530 Food Rescue Coalition Honored at Enloe Health Quality Summit

Written by

The 530 Food Rescue Coalition team was excited to attend the 2024 Enloe Health Quality Summit this last May, where their partnership with Thomas Cuisine Nutrition Services at Enloe was honored. Each year, Enloe encourages their teams to pursue improvement projects, which are then taken and highlighted on posters created for the annual Enloe Quality Health Summit event to share out.

Impactful Partnership

This year, Thomas Cuisine Nutrition Services staff at Enloe Health created a poster highlighting their partnership with our team from 530 Food Rescue Coalition (530FRC).  The partnership, which formed in spring of 2023, has proven to be an incredible resource for the nonprofit organizations in our area served by 530FRC.

Enloe Health has donated over 13,000 pounds of good food for redistribution through 530FRC in the last year alone. This food was then delivered to 37 nonprofit organizations feeding members of our community. The donations consist of high-quality, prepared foods that end up in people’s fridges the very same day.  This partnership allows Enloe Health to serve members in our community before they ever step foot in the hospital.

Meaningful Results

The 530FRC is grateful for the consistent efforts made by the Thomas Cuisine staff at Enloe Health to keep their good food on tables, and to be a part of expanding Enloe’s reach within our community. Partnering with Thomas Cuisine and Enloe Health is not only a huge asset to 530FRC, it also benefits the environment. By keeping this surplus food out of the landfill and helping food insecure individuals in our community, we also help our climate. Saving 13,000 pounds of food from going to waste mitigates around 40,000 pounds of CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere.

530FRC was thrilled to be featured on one of the three winning posters and projects at the 2024 Enloe Health Quality Summit. Sheila Mc Quaid, Project Director for 530 Food Rescue Coalition says “we are so grateful for our partnership with Enloe Health and Thomas Cuisine! Working together makes it easy to keep good food from going to waste and get it to non-profits serving those in need. Enloe Health’s high-quality surplus food donations have had a huge positive impact on the community!”
